Long-term cover cropping in tillage-based systems filters weed community phenology: A seedbank analysis

چکیده
Little is known about the long-term contribution of cover crops to weed management in tillage- and herbicide-based systems. Do mainly filter species capable setting seeds during fallow period? Can crop biomass productivity explain differences suppression among species? Does reduced seedbank density translate into lower higher productivity? Soil samples (0–15 cm) were collected 2018 after termination used a greenhouse seedling emergence assay assess topsoil germinating 25 years beginning split-plot experiment on tillage systems (conventional vs. reduced) (bare soil control, Brassica juncea (brown mustard), Vicia villosa (hairy vetch)). Total 10 most abundant related observations visual cover, total biomass, cash grain yield made six which preceded assessment. Weed was also compute community weighted mean germination flowering period. In comparison with bare hairy vetch suppressed by 40%, whereas brown mustard showed no effect. Cerastium glomeratum (?87%), Veronica persica (?86%), Capsella bursa-pastoris (?57%) Poa annua (?42%), only C. (?65%) V. (?49%). The suppressive effect these four translated significant reduction autumn/winter period March July contrasted competitive interactions previous seasons. However, between could not be fully explained productivity. Management intensity (e.g. herbicides tillage) potentially smoothed out treatments because observed or gain subsequent over 2012–2017 Cover contribute little herbicide tillage-based cropping should further explored minimise use intensity.

Seedbank and Emerged Weed Communities Following Adoption of Glyphosate- Resistant Crops in a Long-Term Tillage and Rotation Study
The compositions of the germinable weed seedbank and aboveground weed communities in a long-term tillage and rotation study were characterized 4, 5, and 6 yr (2002 to 2004) after the adoption of glyphosate-tolerant corn and soybean. Averaged across rotation, mean germinable weed seed density and diversity were greatest in the no-tillage treatment as compared to the minimumand conventional-tilla...
متن کاملWeed Control Using Conventional Tillage, Reduced Tillage, No-Tillage, and Cover Crops in Organic Soybean
Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...

متن کاملNo-tillage increases soil profile carbon and nitrogen under long-term rainfed cropping systems
Emphasis and interest in carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) storage (sequestration) in soils has greatly increased in the last few years, especially C with its’ potential to help alleviate or offset some of the negative effects of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Several questions still exist with regard to what management practices optimize C storage in the soil profile. A long-ter...
